Jack Clark

I began Coaching CrossFit to help as many people on their fitness journey as I could. Increasing the life quality of the humans in my community so they can better kick their goals and live a happier life.
I have 7+ years experience as a CrossFit coach and over 10 years experience in CrossFit itself. My passion for CrossFit is not just about the competitive sport, I love how accessible CrossFit is to everybody. You can come from any walk of life and the scalability of CrossFit as a fitness program can help anyone of any ability.

I love the community and welcoming aspect of CrossFit. “Ego is left at the door” is one of my favourite quotes as it justifies what we value at CrossFit Underway which is creating a comfortable space for our members to get their daily dose of working out done.

Samuel Kane

I began my career in the fitness industry in 2013. During that time I’ve worked as a strength and conditioning coach, CrossFit coach and personal trainer. At the same time I have been studying at uni and have now graduated and can offer a unique perspective as a qualified sports scientist.

I discovered CrossFit initially through competing in powerlifting, but my interest grew and I started spending more and more time participating in CrossFit. I think I fell in love with CrossFit when I discovered how different it is every single day. I enjoyed practicing all of the varied skills you need to master and then seeing how versatile the professional CrossFit athletes are sold it for me.

I love coaching every day and especially enjoy CrossFit competitions. I come to work each day excited to bring out the best from all levels of fitness.

Russell Bertram

I have been working in the fitness industry for 9 years and been Coaching CrossFit for the past 5 years.

I am passionate about movement, in particular the Barbell Lifts and seeing people excel from their hard work.

I discovered CrossFit in 2011 and was humbled at the fitness and strength of other CrossFit participants. CrossFit pieces together the best parts of a variety of proven sporting disciplines. There’s so much to learn and master that training never becomes mundane or repetitive.

Being able to track your progress and seeing the improvements over time is something that motivates and inspires me to do better. It brings a great sense of achievement when you hit a PR after putting in the hard work.

Ben Newland
I started CrossFit back in February of 2013, did my level 1 a few months later and haven't looked back since. For the best part of a decade now I've had the good fortune of working at several of Australia's best CrossFit gyms as well as working with and learning from some of Australia's top coaches.

For me, CrossFit isn't about what we see at the CrossFit games. Whilst it's incredible, CrossFit for me is about the affiliates. It's about helping people get up off their couches, take accountability for their health and improve their longevity through life. For me, CrossFit should improve every aspect of your life outside of the gym.

When Greg Glassman created CrossFit it wasn't about finding the fittest on earth it was about fighting chronic disease and getting people moving. My goal is to continue this dream, to use CrossFit as the best form of medicine and to have every member who walks through our doors take true accountability for their health and along the way become the fittest, strongest and happiest version of the person they have ever been.

I am also studying Osteopathy at University and look forward to combining this with CrossFit in years to come.

Keeley Dempster

I started my CrossFit journey in 2017 and have been coaching for 2.5 years.
I did competitive gymnastics for 10 years growing up, so sport and fitness is a huge passion of mine and I am always up for a good challenge.

I decided to try CrossFit when I was 13 to gain some extra strength, and instantly fell in love with the program!
I love the variety of different movements: the gymnastics side of CrossFit is definitely my favourite but getting under a barbell and learning each of the lifts has been very empowering. 


What inspires me is discovering how strong and powerful my body can be. CrossFit has made me realise how hard I can push myself and what I can achieve with my fitness. I love looking back on how much I’ve improved over the years, and that excitement translates to helping others on their own fitness journeys. Whether it's getting your first pull-up, hitting a new deadlift PR or finishing a tough workout, nothing brings me more joy than the smile of someone improving in the gym.
I am also studying to become an Osteopath, which I’m looking forward to bringing into my coaching in the future!
